Digital Video Recorder (DVR) for Security Surveillance

DVR records video images provided by signals from cameras. DVR has much more functionalities then VCR (video tape recorder). DVR system can perform video searches per date, time, event and camera. Most of the digital video recorders can record audio as well as video. Since DVR is digital as opposed to analog, management and control of the material recorded is much easier and with higher quality. For instance it is possible to optimize disk space usage and configure it to delete the oldest file when no space is left on the disk. The fact that the recorded videos are stored in files enables the possibility to connect the DVR to a LAN or to the internet and have a remote access to the recorded material.

Placing surveillance cameras, hidden and/or exposed, connected to DVR machine and the DVR is connected to a PC or a server and the PC/server is connected to local area network (LAN) or the web (internet) allows an easy remote access and excellent view of required areas. This kind of configuration enables the spying and surveillance mission to have better results with very good quality. The quality of the images is determined by the quality of the cameras, location of the cameras and the right match between the cameras' type and the lightning in the place they are located.
